Cheryl F. Gertler (of counsel)

Ms. Gertler graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., 1979) and obtained her Juris Doctor degree at the University of California, Davis in 1982. She served as a legal extern with the Honorable Judge Robert H. Takasugi, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California for the Fall of 1981.

Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Gertler enrolled in the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law European Law Program, where she studied in Salzburg, Austria and interned with the Helsingborg, Sweden office of Advokatfirman Vinge. From 1983 until 1985, Ms. Gertler lived in Tokyo, Japan, where she studied the Japanese language (Naganuma School of Japanese) and worked with Esaki & Associates, a Japanese patent and law office in Toranomon.

In 1986, Ms. Gertler joined the Chicago law firm of Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd., where she worked for two years as an associate. In 1988, Ms. Gertler joined the Long Beach office of Lillick & Charles, where she worked for six years handling general legal matters. During that time, Ms. Gertler managed Lillick & Charles’ Immigration Law Department for the firm on a nationwide basis as well as the Corporate Department of the Long Beach office. Before becoming Of Counsel to Swain & Dipolito, Ms. Gertler served as Of Counsel with the office of Cohen, Nelson & Makoff.

Ms. Gertler serves as outside general counsel for both international and domestic companies, including several companies involved in maritime shipping, transportation and warehousing. She handles and oversees all types of legal matters, including, but not limited to, business, corporate, immigration, and litigation matters. Ms. Gertler is licensed to practice in California and Illinois.
